Friedrich Kunath (b. 1974) creates works that merge the banal with the extraordinary, exploring universal emotions such as love, loss, hope, and celebration through idealised landscapes layered with poetic phrases and eclectic references. Spanning painting, drawing, installation, and video art, his practice is shaped by personal history, music, German Romanticism, and American pop culture. The artist’s work occupies a unique space between irony and sincerity, blending tragedy, comedy, and romance.
